East Anglian stations win access funding
THE latest tranche of Government Access for All funding will see £20million invested to improve accessibility at 124 stations across Britain, including a number on the Greater Anglia (GA) network.
At Colchester, the money will help to fund a new passenger lift linking the platforms and subway to the main booking hall and car park, completing step-free access throughout the station.
GA was also successful in gaining funding for accessibility improvements at Bury St Edmunds and Needham
Market stations in Suffolk.
Needham Market will receive a long-awaited upgrade to improve access to the Ipswichbound platform 2 at the station, while at Bury St Edmunds, a new accessible entrance will be built on the north side of the station, linking the new car park with the station concourse.
