■ MATERIAL suitable for incorporat­ion in the 440m-long embankment at Pont-y-Goedwig required for (orris Railway's southern extension was delivered in late March. (FR) has confirmed the Covid-19 outbreak has forced cancellati­on of the June 20-21 Welsh Pony Launch event (RM

May). FR hopes its planned autumn Vintage Weekend will present another opportunit­y to launch the restored loco. FR has also confirmed cancellati­on of its Journey Into The Past heritage tours and annual Young Persons Training Week event, both projected for August.

■ RAVENGLASS Railway Museum and Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway have been awarded a £250,000 National Lottery grant towards restoratio­n of the camping coaches Elmira and Maid of Kent, located at Ravenglass station.

■ CROWLE Peatland Railway has bought ex-Lisbon Tram

Car No. 711 from an Essex location with the help of the SSE Keadby Wind Farm Fund. Following cosmetic work the vehicle will enable the line to offer passenger rides in due course.

■ NORTH Bay Railway Engineerin­g Services, currently closed because of the coronaviru­s crisis, has been contracted to build a new'ZB' boiler for Bure Valley Railway. The line has two'ZB'2-o-2sNo. 6 8/ickling Hall and No. 7

Spitfire- but the boiler could also be fitted to 2-6-4T No. 1O

The Rail Trolley Trust has been placed on display in the museum at Statfold Barn Railway. These unmanned vehicles, powered by a-two-cylinder JAP petrol engine, carried representa­tions of armoured vehicles to train troops in anti-tank gunnery. Long-term, the owning trust hopes to occasional­ly demonstrat­e the trolley in operation compete with target - but not under live fire!
