THE West Coast Main Line was closed from Easter Saturday until start of service on Tuesday, April 14.

The handing back of a possession in the Beattock area (replacemen­t of rail over river bridge) was delayed, resulting in serious disruption to early morning services: the 04.28 Glasgow Central-Euston reached Carstairs and was returned to Glasgow Central; the 1M06/05.40 Glasgow-Euston was started from Preston; the 1M07/06.30 Glasgow-Euston had reached Abington loops, from where it returned to Glasgow; the 1M08/07.37 Glasgow-Euston and 1M09/08.40 Glasgow-Euston both started from Preston; while the 1M10/09.40 Glasgow-Euston departed Glasgow on time, and was held at Abington while the procession was surrendere­d, and was 20 minutes late into England.

OVERNIGHT Wednesday, April 22Thursday, April 23, saw major disruption on the WCML when the 4M30/17.40 Grangemout­hDaventry IRFT expired near Brodsbury. The train eventually reached Carlisle New Yard at 06.43, 471 minutes late.

Class 66 No. 66117 was working the4547/19.13 Daventry IRFTMossen­d Eurotermin­al, arriving at 04.30, 115 minutes late. The 1555/23.30 Warrington Mail Terminal-Shieldmuir Mail terminal was 112 minutes late.

Down Yard to Carlisle High Wapping test train, powered by Class 37 Nos. 37401 +37424, was 125 minutes late, and the 21.16 London Euston -Inverness Caledonian sleeper service, hauled by Class 92 No. 92028, was 194 minutes late passing Thankerton.

FURTHER rakes of Mk4 stock have been moved to Worksop for storage, with Nos. 12232+12402+ 12450+12448+12302+10302+ 11299+11302+11402+82202 being towed north from Bounds Green on April 25 by Class 66

No. 66737. The next move saw set BNOl, formed of 12207+12417+ 12415+12414+12307+10307+ 11298+11301+11401+82207, moved north by Class 66

No. 66719 on April 29.

THE final rake of modified coaches- Nos.49113+48123+ 48133+48134+49111 - were hauled south from Doncaster Wabtec to Laira on April 23 by Class 37 No. 37884.

ROG Class 37 No. 37608 moved Stadler Class 745 No. 745108 from warm storage at Harwich Parkeston Quay back to Norwich Crown Point on April 9. Later that same day, classmate 745109 was noted at Harwich Internatio­nal at 16.40 on atest run to London Liverpool Street.

THE Stadler Class 755 units have taken over completely now, but already there are difference­s appearing. No. 755336 has an audible transmissi­on howl and was noted on the 15.46 Sheringham-Norwich on April 16.

DELIVER! ES of new Class 720 units from Derby Litchurch Lane continues, with unit No. 720533 being top-and-tailed by Class 47 Nos. 47727+47749 on April 22.

This was followed two days later when the same Class 47s moved No. 720513 back from Old Dalby to Litchurch Lane.

The next reported move saw the Class 47s move No. 720535 from Derby on April 29. Two days later, No. 720529 joined them at Worksop, new out of Litchurch Lane.

New No. 720511 was top-andtailed from Derby to llford by

Nos. 47749+47727 on May 7.

On May 12, the regular Class 47s moved No. 720508 from Derby to Old Dalby.

THE final Class 755 - No. 755403was delivered to Crown Point on April 23 by Class 66 No. 66001. This left just one Class 745

No. 745110-to be delivered, which duly arrived at Crown Point on May 7, hauled by Class 66 No.66001.

THE first of the Class 90s destined for a new life with Freightlin­er - Nos. 90010+90003+90011 - left Crown Point for Crewe Basford Hall on May 7. This follows the previous departure of Class 90 Nos. 90001 and 90002 to Locomotive Services.

On May 8, Nos. 90006+90008+ 90005+90007 left Norfolk for Crewe.

ALSO leaving Norfolk is the redundant Mk3 coaching stock, with Nos. 12084+12167+ 12061+12015+12108+12079+ 12056+12146+12035+12067 being moved from storage on the Mid-Norfolk Railway to Long Marston, hauled by Class 37

Nos. 37059+37402.

The next move involved Nos.12164+12046+ 12137+ 12118+12116+12126+ 12049+12034+12159+12090 being taken away to Long

Marston on May 7 by Class 37 Nos.37402+37716.

A further move on May 12 found Class 37 No. 37402 move Nos.12125+12154+ 12064+12091+10417+11088+ 11101+10406+11093 to Long Marston.

CLASS 755 No. 755327 worked the 09.00 service as far as Colchester on May 11, from where Class 321 Nos. 321432+321352 continued the service to London. This was possibly the first run ofthe class on a Norwich to Liverpool Street service. The Class 755 returned north later in the day. TEAL blue Class 92 No. 92006 ran light engine (0Z92) south from

Polmadieto­WembleyonA­pril 14.

HST power cars Nos. 43304+ 43378 were observed passing north through Cheltenham on the morning of May 12, running from Laira to Doncaster.

CLASS 195 No. 195111 has gained 'NHS We thankyou'vinyls, and has also been named Key Worker. It was observed on April 23 on the 1C51 from Manchester Airport to Barrow through Lancaster at 08.58. In addition, Class 331

Nos. 331011, 331109 and Class 158 No. 158860 have also received 'NHS We thankyou'vinyls.
