Bluebell’s Fenchurch makes a move to Statfold
THE ‘bottom end’ of the Bluebell Railway’s Stroudley ‘Terrier’ No. 672 Fenchurch arrived at Statfold Engineering on April 15 for overhaul as the project to have it back in steam for its 150th anniversary next year moves forward. Work may involve fitting a new cylinder block if the existing one cannot be repaired. The boiler is being worked on at the Bluebell Railway’s Sheffield Park works.
A new flanged and welded firebox has been ordered from Israel Newton & Son, and new boiler components including barrel extension, smokebox tubeplate, outer wrapper, lower backhead and throatplate pressings are already on site.
The diminutive 0-6-0T has not run since 2011.
