Digital centre opens
TRANSPORT Minister Andrew Stephenson formally opened the University of Birmingham’s new purpose-built centre for specialist railway engineering research on July 8. The Centre of Excellence for Digital Systems has been created through a partnership between the university and the UK Rail Research & Innovation Network with investment from Research England. Cab simulators, a signalling control centre and project labs are among the facilities aimed at assisting projects from the research stage through to proof-of-concept, demonstration and testing.
