Double-naming ceremony for HS2 fan Jermaine

FIFTEENYEAROLD rail enthusiast Jermaine Allen from Leeds, who has followed the story of HS2’s development for the last decade and visited construction sites accompanied by his parents, was invited to the opening of the Willesden hub on September 14.

He named GB Railfreight Class 66 No. 66796 The Green Progressor having chosen the name to illustrate the volume of materials being moved by rail instead of road for the project.

As a surprise, he was also asked to unveil his own name on the hub’s dedicated Class 08 No. 08703.
