THE return of BR ‘Pacific’ No. 71000 Duke of Gloucester for operation on the main line continues at Tyseley Locomotive Works (TLW). BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust volunteers have been preparing the 4-6-2’s support coach, Mk.1 BSK No. W17015 in readiness for dispatch to contractor Rampart Engineering – including refurbishing the roof, fitting the kitchen and some electrical work. As this issue went to press, the loco’s wheels were due to be skimmed ready for the tyres to be fitted at South Devon Railway Engineering.
