Frames in focus

THE frames of LSWR ‘T3’ No. 563 are now inside the workshop at the Flour Mill. Staff at the engineering contractor are busy working to prepare the valve gear ready for refitting to the Swanage Railway Trustowned 4-4-0’s frames. A start has also been made on painting the frames and as a result, the specification for the final livery application needs to be confirmed. A poll of supporters several years ago decided in favour of painting 563 in ‘Drummond’ era livery, as was also applied in the 1948 restoration. Research into the specification continues.
