Second steam loco for Corris coming together

-

FURTHER landmarks in construction of Corris Railway’s new-build Falcon 0-4-2ST No. 10 have been achieved. With the wheels and motion tested under compressed air at Alan Keef Ltd in late June, the volunteer-built trailing truck has now been fitted to the frames. The boiler (made in 2012) has also been trial fitted for the first time, revealing minor clearance issues which were quickly resolved. Attention is now focussing on the brake system with components made by volunteers being fitted at Keef ’s. Construction of the cab utilising laser cut components is progressing at a Corris volunteer’s private workshop in advance of being taken to Keef ’s for trial fitting, any required modifications and finalisation of the bunker arrangement, which will accommodate coal, the air brake system and communication system parts. The aim for the loco to be completed in September 2022 depends on fundraising. Online donations can be made via www.corris.co.uk or cheques payable to Corris Railway can be sent to Peter Guest, 38 Underwood Close, Callow Hill, Redditch, Worcestershire, B97 5YS.
