‘Plastic Pig’ driving trailer saved

CLASS 442 third-rail ‘Wessex Electric’ EMU DTS(A) No. 77382, has been secured by Northumbria Rail Ltd of Bedlington, Northumberland, from Eastleigh Works. Now fitted with a buckeye coupling, it is planned to use it as a driving trailer with a set of former HST Mk.3 coaches, plus a HST power car when one can be acquired. It was designated for the National Railway Museum, but later deemed as not appropriate for the collection,
