East Linton station approved
PLANNING consent for a new station at East Linton, between Dunbar and Prestonpans has been approved by East Lothian Council.
The application for a two-platform station was submitted back in December 2020 following extensive online engagement with the community because of Covid-19 restrictions. A previous station at East Linton closed on May 4, 1964, and local campaigners have pressed for a return of the station for more than two decades.
The platforms will be 164metres long, connected by a footbridge with lifts and stairs, and there will be a 126 space car park with capacity to charge 18 electric vehicles.
A final construction programme is being prepared, and Transport Scotland is discussing with train operators a service pattern.
