Plaque honours Mallow’s war dead
A NEW plaque was unveiled at Mallow station on September 6, to honour the 12 railway workers, many of them local, who lost their lives between 1920 and
1921 during the Irish War of Independence. The 12 included Dublin & South Eastern Railway chairman, Francis (Frank) Brooke who was shot while working in his office, and other workers from drivers, signalmen, porters and gangers.
