‘Standard’ locomotives on the move

BR ‘Standard’‘4MT’ 2-6-4T

No. 80078 has temporarily left its Mid-Norfolk Railway (MNR) home to assist the Swanage Railway with its Christmas services. Owned by Stewart Robinson, the former Purbeck line stalwart promptly entered service at Swanage where it hauled half-term trains.

After winter maintenance, the loco is set to return to the MNR to play an integral part in the line’s 2022 operations. Meanwhile, Southern Locomotive Limited’s ‘4MT’ 2-6-4T No. 80104, moved from Swanage to Tyseley Locomotive Works on October 25. The loco is expected to return to service in 2023.
