Cadder depot opens

SCOTRAIL’S new servicing and fuelling depot at Cadder, between Bishopbriggs and Lenzie on the Edinburgh & Glasgow line, opened on December 12.

The new £33m depot can accommodate up to six InterCity7 HST sets. Its use will reduce empty stock miles while shifting the burden of stabling HSTs away from Perth, Haymarket and Eastfield depots. An added benefit is the reduction of emissions and noise for residents who live close to those other yards.

Because of the size of the yard, there is scope for future expansion. There is also a new two-storey office and mess facility.
