Grant enables rock work to secure Steeple Grange future

-

STEEPLE Grange Light Railway (SGLR) has received a £32,636 grant from the Tarmac

Landfill Community Fund administered by the Derbyshire Environmental Trust. This will enable the 18in gauge line to fund stabilisation of the

Dark Lane Quarry face which suffered a rockfall nearly a year ago (RM, April 2021), repair the abutments of Porter Lane bridge and deal with other infrastructure issues to secure the future of the railway.

By the end of November contractors had repaired the four eroded Porter Lane bridge abutments by spraying concrete in the damaged area then carving it to represent stone.
