Swanley station’s £5.5m upgrade completed
A £5.5m upgrade to the station and facilities at Swanley on the Southeastern network was officially opened on November 22.
At street level is a new, prominent ticket office building with a deep blue part-tiled fascia, replacing the previous station which was rebuilt in 1959. There are two new entrances, smarter waiting rooms and improved toilet facilities. The station also gets additional information screens, better lighting and
CCTV installed to improve safety and security. The footbridge has been refurbished and there have been changes on the approach road to improve air quality while reducing congestion, with a greater emphasis on encouraging pedestrians and cyclists.
Funding for the project has come from Kent County Council, Sevenoaks District Council, Network Rail and Southeastern parent company Govia Thameslink Railway.
