‘Tractor’ added to DRS sale list

DIRECT Rail Services has included Class 37 No. 37405 as a late addition to its second sale of locomotives and vehicles. Located at DRS’s Gresty Bridge depot in Crewe, it is the first Class 37/4 to be listed for sale since the company’s heritage assets disposal programme began last October. No. 37405 saw use with DRS Mk.2 stock on the Cumbrian Coast route and in East Anglia. Towards the end of 2019, it was also utilised on rail head treatment and infrastructure monitoring trains. DRS announced on January 21 that it had been added to a list (see Traction & Stock p83) that includes classmates Nos. 37603, 37604 and 37609, six Class 57s, two DVTs and five DBSOs. The deadline for bids has been extended until February 7.
