DfT to cap on-train announcements
THE Department for Transport is to review and remove announcements that add unnecessary noise and disruption to train journeys, but retain important safety messages and work with accessibility groups so that passengers receive the necessary information.
The aim is to identify and remove repetitive and unnecessary on-board announcements on trains in England so that passengers will no longer be bombarded with ‘tannoy spam’ that distracts from safety-critical messaging.
There will also be new curbs on the maximum frequency at which remaining announcements will be heard.
