Royal 67s requested for ‘Platinum Jubilee’ tour
UK Railtours, organising a railtour to run on June 2, during the extended bank holiday which will mark the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen, has requested use of the two Class 67s which haul the Royal Train – Nos. 67005
Queen’s Messenger and 67006
Royal Sovereign.
From King’s Cross, the special called ‘Platinum Jubilee’ will call at Potters
Bar, Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage, before reversing at Peterborough and taking the line east to Ely, with a cathedral visit as an option. Then the train reverses direction again, arriving at Watlington where the Platinum Jubilee continues its royal theme, with an off-train option of a visit to the Sandringham estate and a tour of the Queen’s country residence. Passengers transfer by coach and will rejoin the train at Downham Market for the return.
Fares are £109 adult, £99 junior in standard class, £149 first class non-dining, £239 first class dining, with a first class party of four seating costing £936. There is an additional £32 charge for the Sandringham option.
