Rail engineers finished strengthening Landport Viaduct, Portsmouth, one of the city’s most prominent Victorian railway structures. The 1876-built metal viaduct, which supports two platforms at Portsmouth & Southsea station, had 10 of its 17 spans strengthened in January
2021. The project is due for final completion in May. The work meant no services to Portsmouth Harbour for eight days during January.
