GBR HQ competition
A COMPETITON to find the new home of Great British Railways (GBR) was officially opened in February, with towns and cities across England, Wales and Scotland invited to apply.
Following the publication of the Government’s Levelling Up White Paper, the new headquarters will be based outside of London. Applications will be measured against several criteria including their contribution to Levelling Up, connectivity to other towns and cities, railway heritage, and links to the network.
The GBR Transition Team will shortlist the best applications in May, after which a public vote will help determine the winning location. The new headquarters will be the heart of the future rail network, providing strategic direction for the running of GBR.
