28,000 women apply for 30 train driver jobs

A STAGGERING 28,000 applications have been received for just 30 jobs to drive the Talgo-built high speed trains in Saudi Arabia. Spanish operator Renfe has a 12-year contract to operate the 280-mile Haramain High Speed Rail line between the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and is handling the recruitment. It is the first time such roles have been advertised for women in the Muslim state.
