-

THE 50th anniversary of the ‘Golden Arrow’s’, final run, the luxury Pullman boat train which ran from London Victoria to Dover from 1929 to 1972, is due to be marked with a special commemorative run on September 30.

‘Merchant Navy’

No. 35028 Clan Line, which did haul the train in the 1950s, will carry the ‘Golden Arrow’ regalia and haul the Belmond Pullman carriages from Victoria (c10.30), through Ashford, Canterbury and finally Dover, before returning to London via the familiar ‘Arrow’ route. Five of the original vehicles – Cygnus, Ibis, Minerva, Perseus and Phoenix – form part of the current Belmond Pullman train.

By mid-February, most seats had been sold, fares started at £490.
