York Place stop closed as work continues

-

EDINBURGH’S York Place tram stop was permanently closed from February 10, for work to connect the city’s existing tram infrastructure to the Newhaven extension.

Trams continue to operate as far as the West End stop, but services are temporarily suspended to Princes Street and St Andrew Square. Passengers with tram and bus day tickets can use any Lothian bus service to connect with trams at West End and an arrangement with ScotRail means passengers interchanging for rail services can use their tram ticket on trains between Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley.

Trams will resume as far as a temporary terminus in St Andrew Square in April.

Edinburgh Trams managing director Lea Harrison said it showed that work on the extension, which is due to open next year, was gathering pace.
