Study to look at returning rail to Armagh commissioned

-

AECOM has been appointed by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, to carry out a technical study on the reopening of the 10¾ mile Portadown to Armagh line, closed in September 1957 when the cross-border line from Portadown via Clones to Cavan was shut by the Stormont Government. Describing the study as a “very important piece of work,” the council’s strategic director of community and growth, Olga Murtagh, was hopeful it would take four months to complete.
