-

THE Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s Dublin Area Operations Committee has announced that it hopes to resume running trains in March, with the first steam trip in over two years being ‘The Midlander’ on March 26/27 – a series of shuttles from Dublin Connolly to Maynooth with GNR 4-4-0 No. 85 Merlin. On April 2, the first diesel tour since October 2019, ‘The East to West Diesel Tour’ will run departing Dublin Connolly at 08.20 for Dundalk via Skerries loop and return and then on to Galway with a 90 minute layover, before returning to Dublin Connolly for 19.45. The ‘Provinces of Leinster’ two-day May tour has now been postponed until September due to accommodation and steam crew availability. Visit www.steamtrainsireland. com for details.
