Farewell tour for Southern ‘455s’
SOUTHERN, in conjunction with the Branch Line Society, is planning a farewell for the Class 455/8 units that are to be withdrawn at the May timetable change. Some of the units have been in service for 40 years.
The ‘Metro Marauder’ on May 14, with profits donated to good causes nominated by Southern and Govia Thameslink Railway, will see two four-car sets run from Victoria to Brighton, Lewes, Charing Cross, Tulse Hill, Blackfriars, Sevenoaks, and back to Victoria.
The RM understands Southern’s ‘455’ duties will be replaced by other EMUs within the GTR fleet.
