Doncaster’s part in the ‘365s’

I WAS pleased to read the article about the saving of a Class 365 EMU for preservati­on (March issue), and in the article it mentions that all of the class were built at York Works before its final closure.

But it failed to mention that some of the later members of the class were sent to Doncaster works for final fitting out of the interiors and testing before acceptance into service. I have attached a photo of No. 365521 on Doncaster Works weigh house prior to testing.

I WONDER how many innocent members of the public bought your March issue on the strength of your headline “The inside story of saving a ‘Royal’ EMU”.

Maybe they were expecting a heart-warming story of the rescue of a flightless bird from Sandringha­m, or a humorous vignette about Prince Charles and Rod Hull?
