‘Tractor’ haulage from tourist hotspot to seaside

PATHFINDER’S ‘Yorkshire Rose’ tour on June 18, will give passengers from Stratford-upon-Avon – normally a tourist and railtour destinatio­n in its own right – the chance to take a day trip to York and Scarboroug­h. The special will call at selected stations along the North Warwickshi­re line – Henley-in-Arden, Whitlock’s End, Shirley and Hall Green – before pick-ups at Birmingham New Street and Tame Bridge Parkway. Traction will be a pair of West Coast Railway Class 37s hauling the Mk.1 Riviera Trains set. Fares start at £125 adult, £63 junior or £480 for a table for four. In first class the adult fare is £175, child £135 and £680 for a party for four. Premier dining seats are £299 adult, £259 child or £1176 for a party for four.
