Plans for Newsham station approved

-

PLANNING consent for a station at Newsham, the last of the six stops proposed for the Northumberland Line between Newcastle and Ashington, has been granted by Northumberland County Council. Situated on what is also known as the Blyth & Tyne line, Newsham station will have two platforms, stepfree access, parking for 237 cars and be built on land south of the A1061 South Newsham Road. The consent means construction work can get underway, with the aim of opening in December 2023 or early 2024 with a half-hourly service. The five other stations will be at Seaton Delaval, Blyth Bebside, Bedlington, Ashington and Northumberland Park for the Tyne & Wear Metro.
