A thousand overhauls completed in Lincoln!

Siemens Bogie Service Centre in the city celebrates ‘fantastic achievement’.

-

LESS than three-and-a-half years after it was established, the Siemens Mobility Bogie Service Centre in Lincoln has completed its 1000th overhaul.

Opened in November 2018, the £8 million centre is capable of overhauling bogies from the entire range of Siemens trains operating in the UK.

The 1000th bogie to be completed was from a Class 700 Thameslink electric multiple unit and marked the beginning of a programme which will see the plant handle 2335 bogies from the fleet over the next four years.

Railway EMUs, based at King’s Heath depot in Northampton, those from Class 374 Eurostar high speed trains and from TransPennine Express Class 185 diesel multiple units, have also received attention at the Lincoln site.

The number of technicians employed at the centre has grown from 44 to 72 and a total of 118 people now work there, with more expected to be recruited.

Siemens Mobility Ltd managing director Sambit Banerjee said the 1000th overhaul was a “fantastic achievement” and showed how the capabilities of the Lincoln facility are “growing at pace.”
