Stadler wins big Austrian contract
AUSTRIAN national rail operator ÖBB awarded Stadler a €3 billion contract for up to 186 double deck KISS EMUs in late February. The contract had been delayed for two years due to legal disputes. Due to be constructed at Stadler’s St Margrethen factory in Switzerland over the next decade, the trains are set to be built in four, five and six car configurations. ÖBB has earmarked them to replace older EMUs and loco hauled push pull trains.
