250km/h trains ordered for Sweden

ALSTOM will build 25 six-car 250kph EMUs for Swedish state owned operator SJ with the first train entering service in 2026. The trains will be the fastest in Sweden, although currently only the Sundsvall - Umeå section of the country’s East Coast main line between is passed for operation at that speed. SJ expects to be able to use them at top speed on other routes in the future.
