‘Climate train’ to be named following competition

-

AVANTI West Coast Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ No. 390121 is to be named Opportunity following a social media competition.

It has been known as the ‘Climate Train’ since it was turned-out in special vinyl wraps championing the environmental benefits of rail travel, ahead of conveying delegates to Glasgow for last October’s Cop26 UN Climate Change Conference.

Nameplates are expected to be applied to the 11-car unit in the coming weeks.

The winning name, one of 150 competition entries, was suggested by 18-year-old Kyla Louise Poulton from Milton Keynes.

A design by 10-year-old Luca Fazakerley from Liverpool won the contest for an emblem to be displayed on the nameplates.
