Nipper new-build LNWR loco project moves to Statfold Barn
THE project to construct Nipper, a replica of a John Ramsbottomdesigned 18in gauge 0-4-0ST built by LNWR for internal use at Crewe works (RM, April 2018) which was being undertaken at Bury Transport Museum, has been relocated to Statfold Barn Railway. The Nipper project, along with a number of other transport exhibits including traction engines, was given four weeks’ notice to leave the museum in order to create space to display John Cameron’s LNER ‘A4’ Pacific No. 60007 Union of South Africa (RM, page 56 May). An urgent appeal by The National Traction Engine Trust seeking help finding accommodation for the displaced items was answered by Statfold Barn which offered to house the entire collection.
