Lynton Ruston restored
AHEAD of returning to North Devon, Ruston 22/28hp RH179880/1936 arrived at Yaxham Light Railway (YLR) on April 25 for running in trials.
Bought by a group linked to Exmoor Associates, the loco was taken to a Norfolk workshop for rebuilding in July 2021 (RM, October 2021).
Its condition had deteriorated during years of outside storage at the old Lynton station and restoration has included fitting a replacement JP3 engine and building a new cab and body panels.
The lorry which delivered the Ruston left with YLR’s Hudson Hunslet 25 hp 2666/1942 No. 19 Penlee. It requires work on its engine after a big end failure.
