‘Pacer’ partnership benefits Cynheidre and Sharpness

THE Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway (L&MMR) and the Vale of Berkeley Railway (VoBR) have formed a partnership. The first fruit of this agreement was the moving of VoBR’s Class 143 ‘Pacer’ No. 143612 to the L&MMR on April 12 for a year-long loan. It is due to enter regular service at Cynheidre. This enables the unit to be in operation in ready-to-run condition for when the VoBR project is able to open. The L&MMR is assisted by being able to undertake work on serviceable units Nos. 142006 and 143607, while retaining the present operational capacity. No. 143612 will be in the care of the South Wales Railcar Group while at the L&MMR. Knowledge, expertise and spares will be shared where possible, together with providing training and assessment for each other.
