New lives for InterCity stock

Two leasing firms donate coaches for further use in training and education.

EVERSHOLT Rail has donated three ex-LNER Mk.4 coaches to the Fire Service College at Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucester­shire.

Nos. 12415, 12417 and 12443 will be used at the college’s rail facility, which provides an environmen­t for practising procedures and training in dealing with railway emergencie­s.

It is used to develop the skills of crews responding to incidents and those commanding them.

Library

At Richardson Endowed Primary School in Smalley, Derbyshire, former Greater Anglia Mk.3 First Class coach No. 11088, which was built in 1985 at Litchurch Lane works in Derby, has been converted to provide a library and additional learning space.

Rolling stock owner Porterbroo­k donated the vehicle which has been modified internally for its new role by staff from Alstom. Local Network Rail teams prepared the site and laid rails for its arrival.
