Three former Great Western power cars had their final journey along the Dawlish Sea Wall on May 31 – after passing there many times during their long careers – as ‘Grid’ No. 56081 hauled Nos. 43197, 43193 and 43069 from Plymouth Laira to Sims Metal at Newport Docks for scrapping. Of note is that No. 43197 was previously named Railway Magazine Centenary 1897-1997 from the end of 1996 to the end of 2000 for our 100th year celebratio­ns, and then The Railway Magazine from February 2001 to August 2003.
