Diesel variety in the forest

THE Dean Forest Railway’s September 17-18 diesel gala features a Rail Operations Group/ Europhoenix Class 37 (RM July p85). The DFR is also offering two DMU operations during August; a full-line service every Wednesday with departures from Norchard at 10.28, 12.09 and 14.00 for an adult fare of £14. New for this year, is the ‘DMU Flyer’, ‘for half the price at £7 adult, for half the line’. Trains depart Norchard on the hour from 10.00 until 15.00 for a 45-minute return journey to Parkend. Class 14 Saturdays are advertised, but no dates, fares or times released as yet. Diesel-hauled brake van rides are on offer again this year, running on August 7, 28; September 10, 25 and October 9.
