Fourth line under Hong Kong harbour

THE final 4.6km long Hung Hom-Admiralty section of the new 17km long, 10 station Sha Tin-Central Link opened on May 15. Operated by MTR using a fleet of 37 nine-car Type R EMUs built by Hyundai Rotem in South Korea, the new section to Admiralty has one intermediate station at Exhibition Centre. The units have replaced ex-Kowloon Canton Railway MetroCammell EMUs dating from 1980-90 in 2020. It is the fourth rail crossing of Hong Kong harbour.
