Battery trains for Rhineland routes
DB Regio has won a contract to run five routes in north-west Germany from 2025 to 2040 using a fleet of brand-new CAF-built ‘Civity’ BEMUs, ordered by the regional transport authorities. The contract covers routes from Essen, Duisburg and Dortmund to Borken, Coesfeld, Xanten and Dorsten, plus the KampLintfort-Moers line which will reopen in 2026. The BEMUs will replace DMUs.
