‘PLA’ to run at Blaenavon

0-6-0T No. 1857 (built 1952) is set to haul its inaugural passenger train in preservati­on at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway’s September 9-11 annual steam gala. It will operate alongside Severn Valley Railway-based GWR 0-6-0PT No. 7714 and Foxfield Railway ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST Wimblebury – plus residents Hunslet 0-6-0ST Jessie and Barclay 0-4-0STs Rosyth and

No. 1219 ‘Caledonia Works’. Following restoratio­n at

West Somerset Restoratio­n, Williton, No. 1857 moved to Blaenavon on August 9 where it is to remain for the foreseeabl­e future.
