SCOTTISH ‘GROWLER’ NOW IN REGULAR USE ON MOORS
LINE: The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, like most steam railways in August, has been restricted to using diesels because of drought conditions. It has hired Class 37
No. 37403 Isle of Mull from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society (RM June p75). Following arrival on
May 3, it has taken up duties on the main line section between Grosmont and Whitby. It is due to return north in the autumn. Here the English Electric Type 3 crosses the River Esk at Ruswarp with 1T10, the 09.15 Grosmont to Whitby service on
July 23.
