NEWEST EXHIBIT:

- NEXUS

In a rare occurrence for a heritage attraction, the Stephenson Steam Railway Museum has taken delivery of a full-size cab mock-up of a new Stadler-built Tyne & Wear Metro train – before the real trains have even left the factory. The cab is on loan from Metro operator Nexus for public display, ahead of the first unit arriving on the system for testing towards the end of the year. The museum occupies the site used for testing the prototype Metrocars for the current fleet in the 1970s.
