UPGRADE ON TRACK:

- HASSARD STACPOOLE

The Limerick to Ballybrophy line reopened to traffic on August 4 following a six-week closure to upgrade track with Continuous Welded Rail (CWR) between Cloughjordan and Roscrea. The line speed from milepost 17 1⁄8 to 34½ was increased to 50mph. A further six-week closure from September 26 is planned when the remaining jointed track on the line will be replaced with CWR. Speeds on the whole line will be increased to 50mph and a new timetable with shorter journey times is expected to be introduced in early 2023. IE 2800 Class Nos. 2816+2815 cross the former Dublin-Limerick main road at Lisnagry with the 16.55 Limerick Ballybrophy service on August 4.
