Not EMU’s first gala use

THE running of EMU No. 5759 without the assistance of diesel traction on the Mid-Hants Railway was not a first.

This unit was initially based at the East Kent Railway, and on a few occasions it was worked with MLV No. 68001. On one annual EMU running day, the MLV hauled it together with the CEP, albeit for a much shorter distance than at the Mid-Hants gala.
