Reinshaw reassembly underway
THE Tanfield Railway is coming to the end of a major overhaul for Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST Reinshaw Ironworks No. 6 (1366/1919).
Much work has been done on the mechanical parts of the locomotive over the past few years, to bring it back to full working order. The boiler itself has also had a great deal of work, including replacement of the firebox.
Reassembly of the loco is now well advanced. The boiler was reunited with the frame at Marley Hill in August.
Also at Tanfield, ex-Doxford Shipyard Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-4-0CT Hendon
(7007/40) has been given a tidy-up and coat of grey paint. It is displayed outside one of the sheds at Marley Hill.
Passenger services at Tanfield are currently being operated by recently restored Andrew Barclay 0-6-0ST Horden
(1015/04) alongside two locally built Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn locos – ‘Austerity’ 0-6-0ST No. 49 (7098/43) and 0-4-0ST Sir Cecil A Cochrane
(7409/48).
