CEGB LOCO GENERATES PUBLICITY:
Andrew Barclay 0-4-0F (2126 of 1942) was exhibited at the Gloucestershire Steam and Vintage Extravaganza, held on South Cerney Airfield near Cirencester from August 5 to August 7. When new, the locomotive was delivered to Castle Meads Power Station in Gloucester and spent its entire working life there before being presented by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) to the Dowty Railway Preservation Society in 1971. It last worked in 1969. The loco is now in the care of the Vale of Berkeley Railway at Sharpness Docks whose volunteers made a superb job of preparing it for its three days of fame. It will now go on static display at the railway’s headquarters. The loco is pictured with BR 20T brake van No. B 954990 at Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage Extravaganza.
