Perhaps aided by the damp weather, ‘Coffee Pot

No. 1’, built in 1871 by Head Wrightson & Co for Dorking Greystone Lime Company for use at its Betchworth Quarry in Surrey, looks the part as it hauls a train of chaldron wagons along the demonstration line at the Pit Village, Beamish during the County Durham museum’s transport gala on September 10. According to the Vintage Carriages Trust database, the van body in the foreground is an NER fish van – its identity being unknown.
